There is a concept of Imamate in Islam after the Prophethood of Mohommad (peace be upon him and his pure progeny).  There are 12 total Imams, or God appointed infallible leaders, to lead us through till the Day of Judgement.  The first 11 have been martyred and the 12th is yet to come back (reappear) along with Jesus Christ, peace be upon them both.



The first Imam is Imam Ali Murtaza 

The second Imam is Imam Hassan Mujtaba

The third Imam is Imam Hussain

The fourth Imam is Imam Zainul Abideen (Sajjad)

The fifth Imam is Imam Mohommad Baqir 

The sixth Imam is Imam Jaffar Sadiq

The seventh Imam is Imam Musa Kazim 

The eighth Imam is Imam Ali Raza 

The ninth Imam is Imam Mohommad Taqi 

The tenth Imam is Imam Ali Naqi

The eleventh Imam is Imam Hassan Askari

And the twelvth and last imam is Imam Mohommad Mehdi AJTF, peace be upon them all.
